Chakra Leamington - The chakras are areas of metaphysical or biophysical energy inside the human body, this is according to Hindu tradition. 7 essential chakras are inside the body, but many believe that there are also minor chakras located inside the body system. Some modern day believers have drawn parallels between the key organs of the endocrine system and the chakra system.

A collection of lotus flowers ascending the spine to the crown of the head signify the 7 main chakras. Each chakra has a component, plus an associated colour plus mine of energy and each lotus has a selected amount of petals. As the chakras progress from the lowest to the highest, they govern more and more spiritual functions. As a person gets extra spiritually aware, they get in contact with the upper chakras one by one. The lowest chakra relates to probably the most fundamental physical concerns, while the highest represents enlightenment.

At the foot of the spinal column is the Root Chakra. It is imagined that it represents survival, primary instincts, and emotions of security. The root chakra is associated with the component of earth and the colour red. It is seen to be a four petal lotus.

On the pelvis sits the Sacral Chakra. It is related to inventiveness, emotions plus sexual energy. This chakra is related to the element water and the colour orange and is represented by a six petal lotus flower.

The Solar Plexus chakra is located inside the area where the thorax and the stomach meet up. It governs mental function, power and digestion. The solar plexus chakra colour is yellow and its' component is fire. It is symbolized by a ten petal lotus.

The Heart Chakra controls tenderness and compassion and it's linked with the chest region involving the lungs. The heart chakra is said to the colour green and the element of air. Its lotus has twelve petals.

communication, Self-expression, growth are all connected to the Throat Chakra. It's typified by a 16 petal lotus and is related to the element of sound or life and the colour blue.

The Brow Chakra is also referred to as the third eye. It is represented by a 2 petal lotus and stated to control perception and instinct. Its colour is indigo and it's related to the element of light or time.

The Crown Chakra is thought to signify the head of religious consciousness or to be the link to the divine. Symbolized as a violet or white lotus with a thousand petals, its associated component is space or inspiration.
